Paramedic Program Description
Paramedic Program Description
An Associate in Applied Sciences in Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic
The program reflects the current Health Department requirements for Paramedic Education in New York State: a year of Arts and Sciences/General Education courses combined with a clinical year emphasizing the theory/didactics and practice of emergency medical care at the paramedic level.
The emphasis will be on a strong liberal arts background, (including 7 of the 10 SUNY Trustees' Mandated general education areas), combined with an exceptional didactic and clinical experience in Paramedic Emergency Services. This approach should allow graduates to immediately sit for the certification examination offered by New York State or National accrediting agencies.
Alternatively, students can elect to transfer to an upper-division institution in some area of Health Care Management or Emergency Medicine Education. EMT-basic certification is a pre-requisite for admission.
