Students who are currently certified as a NYS Critical Care Technician, or are a Registered Nurse, or Physicians Assistant with Emergency Department/ICU experience may be granted advanced standing status. • Current Certification as a NYS EMT (RN and PA only)
  • Current affiliation with an EMS agency
  • Recommendation to the program by your EMS program medical director
  • Written Challenge examination results
  • Practical skills examination results
  • Prior successful completion of a college credit bearing Anatomy course

Individuals interested in applying to the program with advanced standing should send an email of interest to Dean Romano or call the office at (518) 255-5367.

The application process for all students, including those with advanced standing is the same. Students who are granted advanced standing earn college credit for EMSC203 and EMSC204 (spring Semester) only. At this time there is no provision for college credits given for EMSC201 and EMSC202 (fall semester). Students accepted to the program with advanced standings start attending classes in the spring semester.
